ARRIVE IN NAIROBI

Safari Itinerary Day 1

Your adventure begins in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya and the gateway to the country’s many world-class safari destinations. Once you touch down at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, we have the rest of your Kenya 4 day safari covered!

Morning: take a domestic flight from Wilson Airport to the Olkiombo airstrip in the Masai Mara.  The scenic one-hour flight may cost more, but it skips the 5 – 6 hour drive from Nairobi to the Masai Mara National Reserve.

Afternoon: check in at Mara Trails Camp  Enjoy a tour of the sustainable camp, settle in to your room, and enjoy a chef-prepared lunch in our dining tent.  After that, head out for your first game drive!  The Masai Mara is teeming with wildlife.

Evening: return to camp for a three course meal featuring global cuisine, surrounded by the sounds of the wild.  The first day of your Kenya 4 day safari is now complete.

SPOT THE BIG FIVE

Safari Itinerary Day 2

Next on your Kenya 4 day safari itinerary: game drives!  It’s time for a day of spectacular wildlife viewing in one of Africa’s most famous reserves.  Your Land Cruiser will be driven by one of our expert Maasai guides to give you the best chance of sighting the wildlife you love.

Morning: your game drive starts around 6:30 am since early morning is the best time to spot predators on the hunt.  You’ll stop for a bush breakfast somewhere on the savanna.

Afternoon: once the morning game drive is complete, you’ll return to camp to enjoy lunch in the dining tent.  You’ll have several hours to rest before heading out on the evening game drive that starts around 3:30 pm.

Evening: continue your game drive, tracking different habitats: open plains, river banks, and acacia woodlands.  Return to camp for dinner, gather around the campfire to share stories, and soak in the magic of the Mara at night.  The second day of your Kenya 4 day safari is now complete.

EXPERIENCE MAASAI CULTURE

Safari Itinerary Day 3

Today is the third day of your Kenya 4 day safari.  It’s time to experience the Masai Mara from a new perspective!  You’ll take a break from your game drives to visit a traditional Maasai village.

Morning: rise with the sun and begin your next game drive.  Let your Maasai driver know what species you missed seeing the day before – he may know what habitat to target to help you spot the wildlife on your wishlist.  Return to camp for a lunch crafted with flavours from around the globe.

Afternoon: take a guided excursion to an authentic Maasai village, known as a manyatta. Explore the village as the host provides insights into Maasai customs. Witness traditional dancing and chanting by the women and warriors.

Evening: venture beyond the camp for a traditional sundowner. Your Maasai guide will drive you to a picturesque location where you’ll enjoy delicious drinks and appetizers around a crackling fire.  Return to the camp for a three course meal in the dining tent before retiring to bed.

YOUR FINAL DAY

Safari Itinerary Day 4

It’s the last day of your Kenya 4 day safari!  Take your final morning game drive before heading back to Nairobi via a road transfer.

Morning: leave the camp by 6:30 am and savour the sunrise as it gently warms the savanna before you. By now, you’ll be better at spotting wildlife and taking photos of the endangered species of the Mara.  Enjoy your bush breakfast then return to camp.

Afternoon: check out from Mara Trails Camp and begin the 5 – 6 hour road trip back to Nairobi.  You’ll travel through Maasai lands, see the sights of the Great Rift Valley, and experience colourful markets where you can buy curios and souvenirs.

Evening: be dropped off at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi.  If your flight is not leaving until the next day, we can drop you at your hotel, instead.  Rest satisified knowing that you fit as much into your Kenya 4 day safari itinerary as possible!
